Work Package 3: CLIMATOLOGICAL MONITORING AND MAPPING SYSTEM

Following drought indices were implemented and mapped: Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) and Palfai Aridity Index (PAI). As a result SPI came to operation in the whole SEE region with maps available online.

  • Mapping system as a precondition for establishment of a common methodology for drought assessment,
  • to implement drought indices (SPI, PDSI, PAI,…); to have at least SPI (Standardized Precipitation Index) in the whole SEE region and to have maps available online,
  • irrigation scheduling system for end users,
  • development of software to detect snow cover.
